Deluxe Joystick (260-0384) Operation Faxback Doc. # 14976 The control stick controls the X-Axis (Up/Down) and Y-Axis (Left/Right) of "Joystick 1". If your software supports a second joystick, the Deluxe Joystick's on-board throttle and rudder controls control the X- and Y-Axes of "Joystick 2". NOTE: Do not use excessive pressure on the control stick or fire buttons. USING THE FIRE BUTTONS The Deluxe Joystick features dual independent fire buttons with tactile and audio feedback. You operate one button with your "trigger finger", the other with your thumb. Use the SIGNAL SELECTOR to switch the functions of the fire buttons. Simply slide the switch from its current position to the left or right. Each fire button's function switches to the other button. Your software program determines which function a fire button controls. Refer to your software manual. NOTE: Some programs use only one fire button. If your software uses only one fire button, sliding the switch moves the "active" fire button's function to the other button, and leaves the original fire button "inactive". USING THE THROTTLE CONTROLS The left and right-handed throttle controls let you adjust your aircraft or vehicle's speed without having to use the keyboard, so you can keep your eyes on the screen. Use THROTTLE SELECTOR to activate either the left or right-handed throttle control, according to your preference. Slide the switch to the position you want: Left -- activates the left-handed throttle control Center -- turns off both throttle controls Right -- activates the right-handed throttle control NOTES: Some software lets you use a second joystick to control your speed. The Deluxe Joystick throttle control works as a second joystick, if needed. (If your software asks you to specify the number of joysticks, always select "2".) You might want to turn off both throttle controls when you use a second joystick for two-player games. Leaving the throttle control on interferes with the second joystick's control. Follow these steps to use the throttle controls: 1. Before using your software, slide both throttle controls to the minimum position (closest to you). 2. Boot your program. 3. When your software is running, slide the throttle control forward to increase your speed, or back to reduce it. USING THE RUDDER CONTROL The rudder control performs the function of a second joystick's Y-axis (if your software supports a second joystick.) The rudder control is inactive when THROTTLE SELECTOR is in the center (off) position. Slide THROTTLE SELECTOR either left or right to activate the rudder control. 1. Before you use your software, make sure the rudder control is in the center position. 2. Boot your program. 3. When your software is running, slide the rudder control to the left to move the rudder left, or right to move the right. Slide the rudder control to its center position to return the rudder to center. (TE/all-04/26/95)
