If you want to print from outside any application in MS-DOS, you must have 
the black cartridge installed.  Since the color cartridge is not capable of
printing in black without wasting a lot of ink.  (It print color on top of 
color to achieve the color black)  If you attempt to print from MS-DOS with
the color cartridge installed, the ON and ON-LINE LEDs will flash 
alternatively.
