CDR-1100 (250-1092/259-1092) Loading a CD Faxback Doc. # 2403 If this is the first time you are using the CD-ROM drive after installing it, you must reboot your computer. Press RESET or CRL+ALT+DEL. If error messages appear during start up, confirm that you properly installed the CD-ROM hardware and software by reviewing the hardware and software installation procedures. Faxback Document # 2398 will provide information on jumper installation. ┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │To load a CD (CD-ROM) and test the drive, do the following: │ └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘ 1. Lightly push and release the front of the drive door. The disc tray extends slightly from the bay. Pull the disc tray towards you. 2. Insert a CD-ROM disc with the label side facing up. 3. Push the disc tray all the way in. 4. Choose the CD-ROM as the default drive by typing its drives letter followed by a colon, (d: for example,) and pressing ENTER. NOTE: The CD-ROM drive letter is usually D, but if you have more than one hard-drive partition, or if you have a RAM disk on your system, the letter you use varies. Normally, the letter you use is the last drive on your system. 5. Type dir and press ENTER. 6. If you see an MS-DOS directory on your computer's screen, you can begin using the software and information on the disc. NOTE: Some CD-ROM software comes with its own install diskettes or instructions to install from diskette, before the program will work. Follow the instructions provided with that CD.
