Universal Keyboard (250-1030) Install Faxback Doc. # 3142 Adapter The Universal Keyboard Adapter lets you connect an IBM-compatible keyboard to a Tandy 1000 or 1000 SX so you can run programs designed for IBM keyboards, using a 'standard IBM' keys. Supported keyboards include: Tandy 1200 Keystrokes KP 5150 Keystrokes KP 5151 (with XT ROM) IBM PC or PC/XT Tandy Enhanced (XT Mode) IBM Enhanced (XT Mode) Note: Tandy 1000/1000 SX specific software programs, such as Tandy 1000 BASIC, Deskmate for 1000, and Scripsit for the 1000 are specifically designed for use with the Tandy 1000 keyboard and will not function correctly with this adapter. Note: KEYCNVRT.SYS is not required when using this adapter. The Keyboard Driver: Before attaching the new keyboard to your computer, you must first add a keyboard driver to the config.sys file on your MS-DOS system disk. Refer to your MS-DOS manual on how to do this. The line to be added is as follows: device=xtkbdrvr.sys You will need to reboot the computer after you have added this line.
