JP 250 (26-2873) Loading Paper Faxback Doc. # 4131 Your printer provides two ways to feed paper. Normal paper is fed through the slot in the top of the printer. Thick paper and envelopes can be feed through the slot in the bottom. Load the paper according to the following procedure: ┌─────────────────────────────┐ │Loading from the Upper Slot: │ └─────────────────────────────┘ 1. Open the top cover and push the paper release lever down. 2. Turn on the power switch. (ERROR and PAPER indicators will light because of the paper out error.) 3. Match the paper with the paper size scales on the top cover and in- sert the paper. 4. Press and hold down the LF/FF switch for one second to advance and position the paper. 5. The printer has a paper thickness adjustment for printing on re- latively thick paper (approx. 0.2 mm) or making high density prints. The dial has three positions, with indents. Rotate until you feel a click. Counterclockwise: for thick paper or envelopes. Center: for high density graphics printing on normal paper. Clockwise: for normal paper. 6. Press the ON Line switch to set the printer online. The printer is ready to print. ┌──────────────────────────────┐ │Loading from the Bottom Slot: │ └──────────────────────────────┘ 1. Make sure the printer is turned on. Raise the printer by adjusting the printer stand. (The printer will be in an upright position.) 2. Open the top cover and rotate the paper thickness adjustment dial to the envelope mark. Next align the envelope with the scales of the bottom slot and insert the envelope into the slot. 3. Press the LF/FF switch to advance the envelope. If necessary, adjust the first print line position by pressing FWD ADJ or REV ADJ switches. 4. Press the ON Line switch to set the printer online. The printer is ready to print. ┌────────────────────────────────┐ │Paper/Envelope Recommendations: │ └────────────────────────────────┘ This section explains the recommended paper specifications in order to as- sure optimum print quality and reliable printer operations. Paper not con- forming to the following specifications may be used in the printer. How- ever, the results cannot be guaranteed. Although the printer can print on plain, bond paper, test it to make sure the results are satisfactory, because most paper is sensitive to tempera- ture and humidity. the printer may also be adversely affected by extreme conditions. Paper Quality: Plain bond, typewriter quality paper without curls, folds, or damaged edges. Paper Weight: 14 lbs to 24 lbs (52 g/m2 to 90 g/m2) in upper loading 14 lbs to 28 lbs (52 g/m2 to 105 g/m2) in bottom loading Paper Thickness: Under 0.2mm Paper Storage Recommendation: 18'C to 24'C (64'F to 75'F) 40% to 60% RH Cut Sheet: The paper length (L) is 7.2" (182mm) to 14" (356mm) The paper width (W) is 7.2" (182mm) to 8.5" (216mm) Notes: * The standard line feed pitch (P) is 4.23 mm (1/6") * Multipart paper cannot be used. * Use the unidirectional print mode when horizontal lines are not printed straight. * When printing on graph paper, the lines may not match the scales of a graph paper because the 1/6" line spacing of the printer is slightly less than that of the graph paper. Envelope: * Use only commercial number 10 (4.1 x 9.5") envelopes. The following envelopes cannot be used: Envelopes with: windows, holes, perforations, cutouts, and double flaps Envelopes made with special coated paper or deep embossed paper Envelopes using peel-off sealing strips Envelopes in which letters have been enclosed Transparencies: * Use only 3M brand CG3480 transparency film.
