JP 250 (26-2873) Sheet Feeder Faxback Doc. # 4146 This auto sheet feeder has been designed for use with the Tandy Jet JP250 printer. By installing this feeder, the printer can handle up to 30 sheets of letter-sized, A4-, or B5- paper. ┌────────────────────────┐ │Installation Procedure: │ └────────────────────────┘ 1. Raise the printer by adjusting the printer stand. 2. Install the feeder by inserting the hooks of the sheet feeder into the bottom slots of the printer. 3. Slide both lock tabs in the indicated direction to lock the feeder. 4. Raise the paper support. ┌───────────────┐ │Paper Loading: │ └───────────────┘ 1. Unlock the left side paper guide and adjust to the size of the paper used. (Use the paper size scale provided on the bin.) 2. Lock the left paper guide again and unlock the right paper guide. 3. Slide the right paper guide to the right end. 4. Fan the paper sufficiently and align the edges. Up to 30 sheets of paper can be loaded. 5. Make sure the bin is in the closed position, insert the paper stack into the bin and align the edges by tapping lightly. 6. Adjust the right paper guide to the paper and lock the paper guide. 7. Push the release button to place the bin in the open position. 8. Make sure the printer is turned off. Using a pointed (but not sharp) object like a ball-point pen, set DIP switch 1 to ON to select the auto sheet feeder mode. 9. Set the paper thickness adjustment dial to the center position. Rotate until you feel a click. ┌──────────────────────┐ │Paper Supply Methods: │ └──────────────────────┘ Automatic Feed: 1. Make sure that DIP switch 1 is set to ON. Turn the printer on. 2. When the data is sent to the printer, the auto sheet feeder will automatically feed paper to the printer start position. Manual Feed: When using paper other than that set in the bin, manual paper supply is available. 1. Make sure that DIP switch 1 is set to OFF. Turn the printer on. 2. Make sure the bin is closed, and raise the manual feed tray. (To lower the manual feed tray, push it back down.) 3. Align the sheet of paper with the tray size scale and insert into the slot. 4. Set the printer offline. Use the FWD ADJ or REV ADJ switch to position the paper and then set the printer online. CAUTION: 1. Do not move the printer by pulling on the auto sheet feeder. 2. Do not remove the paper stack from the bin when the bin is open. ┌──────────────────────────────────┐ │Troubleshooting the Sheet Feeder: │ └──────────────────────────────────┘ Removing Paper Jams: Note: There are two methods for removing paper jams, depending on where the jam occurs. Inside the Bin: 1. Lift the paper release lever of the printer. 2. Close the bin. 3. Remove the jammed paper carefully pulling out the paper end. Inside the Printer: 1. Lift the paper release lever and open the paper cover. 2. Remove the jammed paper carefully by pulling out the paper end. If the auto sheet feeder does not operate properly, follow the procedure described below. If the problem persists, contact your service represent- ative for assistance. The paper does not feed at all: 1. Make sure that the printer is turned on. 2. Make sure that the paper release lever is pushed down. 3. Make sure that the bin is open. 4. Make sure that less than 30 sheets of paper are loaded in the bin. 5. Make sure that a paper jam has not occurred in the bin. The paper does not feed correctly: 1. Make sure that the printer DIP Switch 1 is set to ON. 2. Make sure the paper satisfies stated paper specifications. 3. Make sure that paper is stacked correctly in the bin. 4.
