DMP 250 (26-2886) Self Test Faxback Doc. # 4222 To check the printers operation and print quality, we recommend you run the printer's self test before you send any print jobs from your computer. 1. Load standard 8 1/2" wide paper (fanfold or single-sheet). CAUTION: The self test prints lines that are 8 inches long, so you must use 8½-inch wide paper to protect the platen. 2. Turn the power off. 3. Print the self test using one of the following test patterns. ° ASCII SLIDE PATTERN -- Press and hold ON LINE while you turn the power on. When printing begins, release ON LINE. The display flashes SLIDING and PRINTING alternately while the printer prints all the ASCII characters. ° MAINTENANCE "H" CHARACTER PATTERN -- Press and hold ON LINE and LF/FF while you set POWER to ON. When printing begins, release ON LINE and LF/FF. The display flashes MAINTE and PRINTING alternately while the printer prints the capital letter "H". 4. To stop printing, press ON LINE. To resume, press ON LINE again. To exit the test mode, turn off the printer. If some of the characters are blurred or if the print is light, adjust the print head. If this does not correct the problem, try removing and re-installing the ribbon.
