WP-100 (260-3950) Ribbon Replacement Faxback Doc. # 5907 Ribbon Replacement Cartridge Catalog number is 260-3954 (Multi-strike), or 260-3952 (single strike). 260-3953, lift off correction tape for 260-3952. 260-3955, cover up correction tape for 260-3954. To remove: 1. Lower the display over the keyboard and open the WP-100's top cover. 2. Hold the cassette as shown and pull up the cassette arms. NOTE: Check the amount of ribbon remaining through the cassette window. If you see colored tape, replace it with a new one. To install: 1. Turn the ribbon takeup knob counterclockwise to take up any slack in the ribbon before installing the cassette. When installing a new ribbon, wind the ribbon's colored portion. 2. Fit the two projections at the bottom of the ribbon cassette into the two holes in the ribbon cassette holder. 3. Carefully lower the front of the cassette to fit the ribbon between the guides and the card holder. 4. Press on the positions marked "A" in the illustration until the ribbon cassette snaps into place. 5. Take up any slack again. 6. Close the top cover. To set ribbon selection: When you change the ribbon cassette, set the ribbon selection to either single-strike or multi-strike according to the ribbon you use. 1. Press [CODE] + [MENU] (RIBBON). The window shown below appears. It shows the current selection - S (single) or M (multi). 2. Press [M] to select the multi-strike ribbon. Press [S] to select the single-strike ribbon. 3. Press <─┘ to enter the selection. CORRECTION TAPE To remove: 1. Move the carrier to the center of the carriage. Open the top cover and remove the ribbon cassette. 2. Remove the left and right spools from the spindle. NOTE: Do not pull the spindle hub when removing the left spool. 3. Grasp both spools and pull them back to straighten the tape. 4. Pull the correction tape to take up any slack and lift it out. To install: 1. Unwind the correction tape. Hold the two spools with your fingers. 2. Carefully lower the correction tape between the ribbon guides and the card holder. Make sure than the sticky side of the correction tape faces the card holder (away from you). 3. Fit the full spool of correction tape onto the left spindle, and push until it snaps into place. 4. Fit the right spool (the one with the knob) onto the right spindle. 5. Turn the right spool toward you until the colored portion of the tape disappears. NOTE: Check to make sure that the correction tape goes behind the left and right guide rollers. 6. Replace the ribbon cassette and close the top cover. PRINTWHEEL To remove: 1. Open the top cover and remove the ribbon cassette. 2. Pull the printwheel set/release lever. The whole printhead shifts toward you and the printwheel pops off. 3. Lightly grasp the top of the printwheel and carefully pull it up. NOTE: Be careful not to bend the top of the ribbon guides. To install: 1. Lightly grasp the edge of the printwheel. Carefully lower it in between the ribbon guides and the printhead. NOTE: Make sure that the typeface side faces the ribbon guide. 2. Push the printwheel set/release lever. The whole printhead shifts back and the printwheel is locked into place. Push the lever again as far as it goes to make sure the printwheel is locked into place. 3. Replace the ribbon cassette and close the top cover. When the next print action occurs, the printwheel first rotates and fits into place automatically. NOTE: Reinstall the printwheel if there are any abnormal sounds or if incorrect characters are printed. SUPPLIES * Cassette ribbon There are two types of ribbon that can be used with you WP-100. Single-strike ribbon The WP-100 comes with this ribbon. This ribbon provides excellent correction performance with the lift-off correction tape. The carbon surface of the ribbon is transferred to the paper as you type, so it is not reusable. Multi-strike ribbon This optional ribbon enables you to type more characters at a lower cost. This ribbon is not reusable, either. * Correction tape There are two types of correction tape that can be used with your WP-100. Lift-off correction tape The WP-100 comes with this correction tape. This correction tape is used only with single-strike ribbon. It lifts the carbon film ink off the paper. Cover-up correction tape This optional correction tape corrects errors by covering them. This is used only with multi-strike ribbon. * Printwheel The WP-100 comes with a standard printwheel. Besides this type style, a variety of printwheels with different type styles is available. * Diskette The WP-100 comes with a 2.8" diskette. Use the same type of diskette. (dkh-08/04/93)
