Microcom Networking Protocol (MNP) Overview

The modem supports MNP classes 2 through 5.  Class 5 uses data compression
algorithm to increase data throughput and is enabled by the AT%C1 command.
If MNP is disabled, the modem defaults to class 4.  MNP Class 4 is a data
link protocol that uses error detection algorithm to ensure data
integrity.
