High-Power Speaker (400-0136) Installation Faxback Doc. # 14146 Control Center CONNECTIONS Because of the way the control center divides the power from your receiver/amplifier, it is important which speaker terminals you use for each pair of speakers. * Connect your most used speakers to the control center's A terminals. * Connect your least used speakers to the control center's D terminals. * Connect other speakers to the B and C terminals. * Do not connect more than one pair of speakers to each set of terminals. The power a particular pair of speakers receives can vary depending on which other speakers you activate at the same time. Use 2-conductor speaker wire to connect speakers to the control center's terminals. Be sure that you observe properly polarity. (Connect the speaker's positive (+) terminals to the control center's positive terminals. Connect negative (-) to negative, also.) Most speaker wire has one conductor marked with a stripe or ridge to make polarity matching easier. Use speaker wire to connect the control center's AMP terminals to your receiver/amplifier's speaker terminals. Again, be sure to observe proper polarity. Use 18-gauge speaker wire for most connections. If you run a single pair of wires more than 80 feet, use heavier gauge wire. CAUTIONS: * Do not allow stray strands of wire to touch adjacent terminals. This can damage your receiver/amplifier. * If your receiver/amplifier has A and B speaker connections, connect this control center to one set of terminals and do not use the other. Connect all of your speakers through the control center. * If you do not connect a pair of speakers to a set of the control center's terminals, set the corresponding IN/OUT switch to OUT. * Reduce the receiver/amplifier's volume setting before changing the control center's switch settings.
