Low-Pass Choke Coil (400-1326) Installation Faxback Doc. # 14186 CONNECTING THE CHOKE COIL Before you connect the coil, insert a wood screw (not supplied) through the coil's center hole. Then, if the speaker has an enclosure, mount the coil to the enclosure's inside wall. Caution: Be sure the screw does not go all the way through the wall. This can create an air hole and reduce the speaker's sound quality. You can connect two coils in series to lower the cutoff frequency of the woofer or subwoofer. The following chart shows the cutoff frequencies for different configurations. ┌───────────────┬───────────────┬───────────────┐ │ Speaker │ Number of │ Cutoff │ │ Impedance │ Coils │ Frequency │ ├───────────────┼───────────────┼───────────────┤ │ 8 Ohms │ 1 │ 300 Hz │ │ 8 Ohms │ 2 │ 150 Hz │ │ 4 Ohms │ 1 │ 150 Hz │ │ 4 Ohms │ 2 │ 75 Hz │ └───────────────┴───────────────┴───────────────┘ Note: Be sure the coils are at least 10 inches apart.
