Stereo L-Pad (400-0978) Installation Faxback Doc. # 14257 CAUTION: This L-Pad is designed to handle up to 75 watts of peak music power. Continuous use at high power levels may result in overheating of the control. To assure maximum life at high power levels, operate the control at settings of 5 to 10. Operating at setting of less than 4 limits the power dissipation capacity of the control. Thus, adjust the main Amplifier for an overall level which permits this control to be adjusted at the high end of the range. 1. Connect output from one channel of Amplifier/Receiver CHannel 1 INput terminals. Be sure the common (-) lead is connected to left terminal (next to OUTput terminal). 2. Connect output from the other channel of the Amplifier/Receiver to CHannel 2 INput terminals. Be sure to connect the common (-) lead to left terminal. 3. Attach the wires from one speaker to CHannel 1 OUTput terminals. The wire from (+) terminal (usually marked +, or red dot) should be connected to right terminal and wire from (-) terminal (unmarked, or marked G. or Com.) to left terminal. 4. Attach wires from another speaker to CHannel 2 OUTput terminals. Observe the polarity same as in step 3. NOTE: You can use channel 1 or 2 for either left or right channel, as long as you are consistent throughout the connections. That is, if you connect left channel output from Amplifier to Channel 1, left channel speaker must be connected to CHannel 1 OUTput terminals. Otherwise, sound will be "out of phase" and you will lose some of the bass response. 5. Two sets of mounting hardware are enclosed. Use the blunt metal screws if you are mounting the L-pad in an electrical wall box. Use the Wood screws to mount the L-pad in a cutout. In either case, you can use other decoration plate (or no decoration plate so the wall color will be see through the transparent acrylic face plate). See reverse side for how to change/remove decoration plate. ATTACHING THE DECORATION PLATE 1. Pull the knob off. 2. Remove nut and flat washer. 3. Hold the face plate nad pull the attenuator off. 4. Place decoration plate and face plate over the control shaft. 5. Place flat washer over the control shaft and thread nut onto the bushing. 6. Turn the shaft counter clockwise till it stops. 7. Press nob over the shaft, with the pointer toward "O". (ALL-03/17/95)
