System 727 (130-1274) Cassette Deck Operation Faxback Doc. # 14330 The System 727 has two cassette decks. You can use TAPE 1 (REC/PLAY) for normal playback, consecutive play, and dubbing (recording). You can use TAPE 2 (PLAY) for normal playback and consecutive play. TAPE 1 and TAPE 2 have a full-release auto-stop system to protect tapes and prevent pinch roller damage. When a tape reaches the end while playing, recording, fast-forwarding, or rewinding, the tape mechanism automatically stops. Note: To operate a tape, you must use the control buttons under the same deck where you loaded the tape. LOADING AND PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE Warning: To protect your hearing, set VOLUME MIN/MAX to its lowest setting before you begin playing a cassette tape. Note: Before playing or recording any cassette tape, take up any slack in the tape by turning one of the cassette's hubs with a pencil. If you do not remove excess slack, the tape might become tangled in the record/playback mechanism. Follow these steps to load and play a cassette tape in either TAPE 1 or TAPE 2. 1. Press POWER/STANDBY to turn on the system. 2. Press TAPE. TAPE appears on the display. 3. Press STOP/EJECT on either TAPE 1 or TAPE 2 to open the cassette compartment door. 4. If microphone SYMBOL is displayed or flashing, press KARAOKE/VOCAL FADER/MULTIPLEX/OFF until microphone SYMBOL disappears. 5. Load the cassette with its open edge down, the desired side facing out, and its full reel to the left. 6. Gently close the compartment door. 7. Press PLAY on the deck you are using. The cassette plays until it reaches the end of the side, then it automatically stops. Notes: To temporarily stop playback, press PAUSE on the deck you are using. Press PAUSE again to continue playback. To fast-forward or rewind the tape, press FAST F or REWIND on the deck you are using. Press STOP/EJECT when the tape reaches the desired location. 8. Adjust VOLUME MIN/MAX to the desired listening level. 9. Press STOP/EJECT on the deck you are using to completely stop playback before it automatically stops. Press STOP/EJECT again to open the cassette compartment and remove the cassette tape. USING CONSECUTIVE PLAY You can set the tape player to play one side of a tape in TAPE 2, then automatically play one side of a tape in TAPE 1. 1. Press POWER/STANDBY to turn on the system. 2. Press TAPE. TAPE appears on the display. 3. Press STOP/EJECT on TAPE 1 and TAPE 2 to open both cassette compartment doors. 4. Load the cassette you want to hear first in TAPE 2, then load the other cassette in TAPE 2, then load the other cassette in TAPE 1 with the open edges down, the desired sides facing out, and the full reels to the left. 5. Gently close both compartment doors. 6. Press PLAY on TAPE 2. The cassette in TAPE 2 plays. 7. While the cassette in TAPE 2 is playing, press PAUSE on TAPE 1, then PLAY on TAPE 1. When the cassette in TAPE 2 finishes playing, the cassette in TAPE 1 automatically begins playback. (br/all-04/11/95)
