The Radio Shack Micro-30 Time/Date Stamp Microcassette Tape Recorder is a
example of superior design and craftsmanship.  The following suggestions
will help you care for the recorder so you can enjoy it for years.

    Keep the recorder dry.  If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. 
    Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits.

    Handle the recorder gently and carefully.  Dropping it can damage the
    circuit boards and case and can cause the recorder to work improperly.

    Use and store the recorder only in normal temperature environments.
    Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices and
    distort or melt plastic parts.

    Keep the recorder away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
    wear of parts.

    Wipe the recorder with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking
    new.  Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong
    detergents to clean the recorder.

    Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.  To prevent
    damage from leakage, always remove dead or weak batteries.

Modifying or tampering with the recorder's internal parts can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate your recorder's warranty.  If your
recorder is not operating as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack
store for assistance.

CLEANING THE TAPE-HANDLING PARTS

Clean the tape-handling parts after about every 20 hours of use.

To clean the tape-handling parts, press STOP/EJECT, remove the batteries
and disconnect any power source, then press PLAY to expose the tape-handling parts.  Use a cotton swab dipped in tape head cleaning solution
or denatured alcohol to gently clean the parts shown in the illustration.

After you finish cleaning the tape-handling parts, press STOP/EJECT to
release the tape-handling parts.

NOTE:  For easier cleaning, you can use a microcassette cleaner kit, which
       includes a special cleaning cassette.  Your local Radio Shack store
       has a complete line of microcassette cleaning accessories.
