CTR-91 (140-0861) Power Source Faxback Doc. # 15484 CAUTION: Risk of electric shock! Do not open! To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back). No user serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel. WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electrical shock, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture. USING BATTERY POWER You can power the radio/recorder from four C batteries. For the best results, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-551. To install batteries: 1. Push the tabs in the direction of the arrows marked on the battery compartment and lift off the cover. 2. Insert four C batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. USING AC POWER You can use AC power with the radio/recorder to conserve the batteries. Open the battery compartment cover and pull out the AC power cord. Replace the compartment cover and route the cord through the notch in the upper right corner. Plug the power cord into a standard AC outlet. NOTE: The AC power cord has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) and will only fit into an outlet one way. Do not force the plug. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power the radio/recorder from the vehicle's battery. Using vehicle battery power requires a DC adapter (not included), such as Cat. No. 273-1802. NOTE: The internal batteries disconnect when you connect the radio/recorder to the vehicle's battery power. CAUTIONS: The vehicle must have a 12-volt DC negative ground electrical system. Be sure you connect the adapter to the radio/recorder before you connect it to the cigarette-lighter socket, and disconnect the adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you disconnect it from the radio/recorder. Otherwise, the unconnected plug might touch some metal in the vehicle and damage the adapter or the vehicle's electrical system. You must use a DC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at least 250 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to negative and its plug must correctly fit the radio/recorder's DC 6V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the radio/recorder or adapter. (TE/all-06/02/95)
