CTR-91 (140-0861) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15485 Listening to the Radio 1. Set VOLUME to its lowest setting. 2. Set FUNCTION to AM or FM. 3. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening level. 4. Use the tuning control to locate the desired station. NOTES: For the best FM reception, extend the telescoping antenna to its full length. Move or rotate the radio for the best AM reception. (The AM antenna is built-in). Set FUNCTION to RADIO OFF/TAPE when the radio/recorder is not in use. Playing a Tape 1. Set VOLUME to its lowest setting. 2. Set FUNCTION to RADIO OFF/TAPE. 3. Press STOP/EJECT to open the cassette compartment door. 4. Insert a tape in the guides in the compartment door with the open side up and the side you want to hear facing out. 5. Close the cassette compartment door and press PLAY. 6. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening level. 7. Press STOP/EJECT to stop the tape. If you let the tape run to the end, play stops automatically. NOTE: Press FAST-F or REWIND to advance or rewind the tape rapidly. To stop advancing or rewinding the tape, press STOP/EJECT. Using Pause PAUSE is convenient for editing material during recording or to temporarily stop a tape wile it is playing. Press PAUSE for a temporary stop. Press PAUSE again to resume recording or playing. RECORDING Recording From the Radio 1. Set FUNCTION to AM or FM. 2. Use the tuning control to locate the desired station. 3. Press STOP/EJECT to open the cassette compartment door. Then load a blank cassette, or one you want to record over, and close the cassette compartment door. 4. Press RECORD. PLAY and RECORD both lock down. NOTE: The level-control circuitry automatically adjusts the recording level. Press STOP/EJECT to release RECORD and PLAY. 5. When you monitor the recording, adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening level. 6. To stop recording, press STOP/EJECT. To remove the cassette, press STOP/EJECT again. If you choose to let the recording continue, recording and tape movement automatically stop at the end of the tape. Recording With the Built-In Microphone 1. Set FUNCTION to RADIO OFF/TAPE. 2. Press STOP/EJECT to open the cassette compartment door. Load a blank cassette, or one you want to record over and close the cassette compartment door. 3. Press RECORD. The level-control circuitry automatically adjusts the recording level. Erasing a Cassette Tape For the fastest and most thorough tape erasure, use a bulk tape eraser such as Cat. No. 44-232. Otherwise, follow these steps: 1. Set FUNCTION to RADIO OFF/TAPE. NOTE: Place the recorder in a quiet room because the built-in microphone picks up any background noise, and the recorder records the sound. 2. Load a cassette tape you want to erase in the cassette deck. 3. Press RECORD. The tape deck records over the previous recording. 4. Press STOP/EJECT to stop recording.
