System 1230 Stereo (130-1250) CD Changer Operation Faxback Doc. # 16395 Rack System Follow these steps to play the CD changer. 1. Press POWER on the system. The indicator on the VOLUME knob lights. 2. Press CD. The CD indicator lights. The carousel rotates and stops with Disc Tray 1 in playing position. 3. Carefully place CDs in the recessed part of the carousel, label side up. NOTE: To play a 3-inch CD, place it in the middle of the tray. CAUTION: Do not stack CDs in the tray. This could damage the CD changer and the CDs. 4. To replace a disc in Tray 1, press DISC SKIP to rotate the disc platter and expose Disc Tray 1. Each time you press DISC SKIP, the carousel turns clockwise to the next tray position. If no disc in the playing position, NO DISC appears on the display. NOTE: Do not touch the carousel while it is rotating. 5. Press the desired disc selection button to select the tray you want to play. 6. Press PLAY/PAUSE to begin playing Track 1 on the disc. The changer continues to play all tracks in order. While a disc plays, the display shows the number of the current disc, the number of the current track, the index, EACH, and the elapsed time from the beginning of the current track. NOTES: If the disc contains 21 or more tracks, > appears to the right of the 20 indicator. Not all discs have index information. 7. To temporarily stop play. press PLAY/PAUSE. PAUSE appears on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to resume play. After the CD changer plays all the tracks on the current disc, the CD changer automatically loads the next high-numbered disc and plays all of its tracks. After the CD changer plays all of the loaded discs, the player stops. If you want to stop playing the disc before it ends, press STOP. To remove the CD, press DISC SKIP. Automatic Search Music System You can select a track while the CD changer is stopped or playing. To select a track, repeatedly press ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> until the desired track's number appears on the display. NOTE: If you want to select a track on a lower or higher numbered disc, press REPEAT until REPEAT CONTINUE appears on the display. Then press ASMS/SEARCH <>/>>. See "Repeat Play." Audible Searching To search for a section of a track, press and hold down ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> during play. The CD changer rapidly plays in the direction of the arrows. When you hear the section you want, release ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> to resume normal play. NOTES: When the CD changer reaches the end of a CD during searching, the search continues to the next disc. When the CD changer reaches the beginning of a CD during searching, the CD changer pauses and PAUSE appears on the display. When the changer reaches the beginning of a current track or the beginning of the next track while you are searching a programmed sequence, the changer pauses and PAUSE appears. Press PLAY/PAUSE to continue play. Intro Scan The intro scan feature lets you play the first 10 seconds of each track. To use this feature, simply press INTRO SCAN. If you press INTRO SCAN during play mode, intro scan immediately starts from the next track on the disc. To enter the normal play mode, press INTRO SCAN again. NOTES: You can use ASMS during intro scan. If the CD changer is in REPEAT CONTINUE mode, intro scan continues from disc to disc. See "Repeat Play Function." Automatic Random Play You can set the CD changer to select a track at random and then play the track. To use this feature, press RANDOM before or during play. RANDOM appears on the display. If you press RANDOM during random play, the CD changer begins another random sequence. Press STOP to stop play and clear the random sequence. Random Intro Scan Play Press INTRO SCAN, then RANDOM to play the first 10 seconds of each track at random. To enter the normal play mode, press INTRO SCAN. Repeat Play Function You can repeat a single track, all tracks on a selected disc, or all tracks of all discs. Before or during play, press REPEAT until the desired indicator appears on the display. REPEAT ONE: Repeat a single track. REPEAT ALL: Repeat all tracks on a selected disc. Programming a Sequence You can program a sequence of up to 32 selections to play in any order you choose. A selection can be an individual track or an entire disc. 1. Press STOP to stop the Cd changer or press POWER and CD if the CD changer is not on. 2. Load the CDs. 3. Press MEMORY. On the display, PROG flashes, AL appears under TRACK, and program step number 1 appears under STEP. 4. Press the desired disc selection buttons to select the disc that contains the first track you want to program. If you want to program all tracks on the selected disc, skip step 5. 5. Press ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> to select the desired track number. 6. Press MEMORY to store the displayed track and disc numbers in the first memory position. 7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each track or disc you want to program, up to 32. 8. Press PLAY/PAUSE. The CD changer plays the sequence. To stop the programmed play before the end of the sequence, press STOP. NOTES: Press STOP when the CD is not playing clears the program memory. If the programmed track does not exist on the disc. PErr (program error) appears on the display and the CD changer stops at the beginning of the next programmed selection. You can use audible search and ASMS during play of a programmed sequence. Checking the Sequence After you stop play or finish programming, press MEMORY to display the sequence's first memory position. Repeatedly press MEMORY to check other memory positions. NOTE: Press STOP when the CD is not playing clears the program memory. Changing the Programmed Sequence 1. Press STOP to stop the programmed sequence. NOTE: Pressing STOP when the CD is not playing clears the program memory. 2. Press MEMORY repeatedly until the selection you want to replace appears on the display. 3. Press the disc selection button select the desired disc. 4. Press ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> to select the desired track. 5. Press MEMORY. 6. Repeat Steps 2-5 to replace other programmed tracks. To play the revised sequence, press PLAY/PAUSE. The program starts from the first selection. Adding to the Program Follow these steps to add to the end of the programmed sequence. 1. After you stop play, repeatedly press MEMORY until the display is blank. NOTE: Pressing STOP when the CD is not playing clears the program memory. 2. Press the disc selection button to select the desired disc. 3. Press ASMS/SEARCH <>/>> to select the desired track. 4. Press MEMORY to store the selection. Clearing Memory To clear the program memory, press STOP twice, select another audio source, or turn off the power. REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION The system's infrared remote control lets you operate some tuner and CD functions, and control the volume from almost anywhere in the room. To use the remote control, you must first turn on the system by pressing POWER on the system. Then, select the tuner or CD function by pressing buttons on the system or remote control. NOTE: If you turn off the system with the system's POWER button, you cannot turn on the system using the remote control's POWER button. When you use the remote control, point it directly at the system's infrared sensor, located at the front upper left corner of the system. NOTE: Your system does not respond to the remote control unless the audio cables between main unit and the CD changer are connected. Below is a brief explanation of each button on the remote control. POWER - turns the system on and off. The system's POWER button must be in for this button to work. MUTE - silences the system. This MUTE indicator lights. Press this button again to cancel muting. VOLUME /\ or \/ - increases or decreases the volume level. BAND SELECT - selects the desired tuning band. The AM, FM1, and FM2 indicators appear in sequence as you press the button. Memory Station - selects the stations you stored in memory. Buttons 1-6 TUNING /\ - tunes upward in the selected tuning band. TUNING \/ - tunes downward in the selected tuning band. CD/SKIP - selects CD features. When you press this button in CD mode, the carousel turns clockwise to the next tray position. TRACK << and >> - skips to the beginning o each track when you repeatedly press the button and quickly scans tracks when you press and hold down the button. STOP - stops the CD changer. || (Play/Pause) - plays and pauses the CD changer. (ALL-08/09/95)
