System 1230 Stereo (130-1250) Turntable Operation Faxback Doc. # 16396 Rack System During shipping, the turntable mechanism might have been disturbed. If so, the tone arm might not return to the arm rest or it might not complete the automatic shut-off cycle. To reset the mechanism, do the following: 1. Unlock the tone arm from the arm rest. 2. Manually turn the turntable clockwise and use the finger lift to move the tone arm toward the center spindle. The auto mechanism clicks when it engages. 3. While turning the turntable, let go of the tone arm. It automatically returns to the tone arm rest. NOTE: Be sure you have loosened the transit screws to release the turntable as instructed in "Setting Up the Turntable" (Faxback Doc. # 16392). Follow these steps to use the turntable. 1. Press POWER to turn on the system. The indicator on the VOLUME knob lights. 2. Press PHONO. The PHONO indicator lights. 3. Set the speed control to 33 or 45 for the type of record you are playing. 4. Set the turntable speed adapter up for 45-rpm and down for 33-rpm records. 5. Place the record on the turntable. 6. Unlock the tone arm from the tone arm rest. 7. Remove the stylus guard by pulling it away form the stylus. 8. Lift the tone arm with the cue lever and move the tone arm toward the record. The turntable's platter starts turning. NOTE: The cue lever lets you move the tone arm up and down so you can play a section of a record or stop playing a record without turning off the turntable. 9. Using the cue lever, gently lower the tone arm onto the record. The system plays the record. When the tone arm reaches the end of the record, it automatically returns to the arm rest and the turntable stops. 10. When you finish using the turntable, lock down the tone arm with the clamp to protect the stylus. (ALL-08/09/95)
