Chronomatic-291 AM/FM LED Clock Radio (120-1591A) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 17111 CONNECTING TO AC POWER Plug the clock radio's power cord into a standard AC outlet. The display flashes. BATTERY BACK-UP WITH BATTERY SENTINEL The clock radio has a back-up power system that operates the clock and alarm during a power failure. The clock display goes off, but the clock operates for at least 8 hours, and the alarm sounds for at least 10 minutes, if set. The BATTERY SENTINEL indicator, a small red dot at the bottom right of the display, appears if the battery is low, or if one is not installed. Installing a Back-up Battery The clock radio requires a 9-volt battery (not supplied) for its back-up power system. For the best performance, we recommend an alkaline battery, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-553. CAUTION: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and type. NOTE: To prevent unnecessary drain on the battery, install it only after connecting the clock radio to AC power. 1. To remove the battery compartment cover, press down and slide it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Snap the clock radio's battery contacts onto the battery terminals, then insert the battery into the compartment. The BATTERY SENTINEL indicator turns off. 3. Replace the cover. WARNING: Always dispose of old batteries promptly and properly.
