Chronomatic-291 AM/FM LED Clock Radio (120-1591A) Operation Faxback Doc. # 17112 SETTING THE TIME Follow these steps to set the time. 1. While pressing and holding down TIME, press HOUR. The hour digits advance by 1 hour each time you press HOUR. Hold down HOUR to rapidly advance the hour digits. NOTE: The PM indicator appears on the bottom left side of the display if you set the alarm to a PM hour. No PM indicator means it is set to an AM hour. 2. While you hold down TIME, press MINUTE. The minute digits advance by 1 minute each time you press MINUTE. Hold down MINUTE to rapidly advance the minute digits. ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY Set DIMMER HI/LO to LO for nighttime viewing, or to HI for daytime viewing. PLAYING THE RADIO 1. Rotate VOLUME clockwise (toward the front of the clock radio) to set the volume to its minimum level. 2. Slide ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to ON. 3. Slide AM/FM to the desired band. 4. Rotate TUNING to the desired station. 5. Rotate VOLUME to the desired sound level. 6. To turn off the radio, slide ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to OFF. NOTE: The AM Antenna is built-in. Turn the clock radio for the best AM reception. Fully extend the AC power cord (which is the FM antenna) for the best FM reception. USING THE SLEEP TIMER This feature lets you set the radio to play for up to 1 hour, 59 minutes and then automatically turn off. This is useful you want to have the radio play as you go to sleep. Follow these steps to set and use the sleep timer. 1. Slide ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to OFF 2. Press SLEEP once. The radio plays for 59 minutes and then automatically turn off. 3. To set a playing time of fewer than 59 minutes, press and hold SLEEP then press MINUTE. The time on the display decreases by 1 minute each time you press MINUTE. Hold down MINUTE to rapidly decrease the playing time. 4. To set a playing time between 1 hour to 1 hour, 59 minutes, press and hold SLEEP, then press HOUR. 1 hour, 59 minutes appears. To decrease the sleep time, repeatedly press MINUTE. Each time you press it, the sleep time decreases by 1 minute. 5. To turn off the radio before the preset sleep time elapses, press SNOOZE. NOTE: If the BATTERY SENTINEL indicator lights while you press SNOOZE, the back-up battery is getting low. SETTING THE ALARM TIME 1. Slide ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to OFF. 2. While pressing and holding down ALARM press HOUR. The time on the display advances by 1 hour each time you press HOUR. Hold down HOUR to rapidly advance the hour digits. NOTE: The PM indicator appears on the bottom left side of the display if you set the alarm to a PM hour. No PM indicator means it is set to an hour. 3. While you hold down ALARM, press MINUTE. The time on the display advances by 1 minute each time you press MINUTE. Hold down MINUTE to rapidly advance the minute digits. To display the preset alarm time, press ALARM. WALKING TO THE ALARM To wake to the alarm, side ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to ALARM. At the preset alarm time, the alarm sounds, then automatically turns off after 1 hour, 59 minutes. To turn off the alarm sooner, slide ALARM/AUTO/OFF/ON to OFF. To reset the alarm to sound again at the alarm time on the next day, slide it back to ALARM or AUTO. SNOOZE FEATURE If you want to turn off the alarm but you want it to sound again in a few minutes, press SNOOZE after the radio or alarm comes on. This silences the radio or the alarm for about 9 minutes. You can press SNOOZE repeatedly. CONNECTING AN EARPHONE To listen privately, you can plug an optional earphone into the EAR jack on the back of the clock radio. (You can use headphones, but you cannot receive a stereo signal.) You can find a complete selection of earphones and headphones at your local Radio Shack store. NOTE: Connecting an earphone automatically disconnects the built-in speaker. Listening Safely To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use an earphone. Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level. Do not listen at extremely high levels. Extended high-volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss. Once you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so a volume level that does not cause discomfort might still damage your hearing.
