SW-100 Multi-Band AC/DC Portable Radio (120-0649) Power Sources Faxback Doc. # 17710 USING YOUR VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM You can power the SW-100 from your vehicle's 12V electrical system. This connection requires a 9-volt DC adapter, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1802. CAUTIONS: The vehicle must have a 12-volt DC negative-ground electrical system. The recommended adapter supplies 9-volts DC power. Its center tip is set to negative, and its plug properly fits the radio's DC 9V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the SW-100. Follow these steps to power the SW-100 from your vehicle's electrical system. 1. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 9v. 2. Plug the 9V DC adapter into the SW-100's DC 9V jack. This disconnects the internal batteries. CAUTION: Always plug the adapter into the SW-100 before you plug it into the cigarette-lighter socket, and always unplug the adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you unplug it from the SW-100. Otherwise, the unconnected plug might touch a metal object and damage the adapter or the vehicle's electrical system. 3. Plug the adapter into the vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. AC POWER Follow these steps to use AC power. 1. Set AC/DC to AC. 2. Connect the supplied AC power cord into a standard AC outlet. This automatically disconnects the batteries. NOTE: Remove the batteries if you plan to use an optional power source. (JC/all-11/01/95)
