SW-100 Multi-Band AC/DC Portable Radio (120-0649) Setup Faxback Doc. # 17711 INSTALLING/REPLACING THE BATTERIES Your SW-100 requires four D size batteries (not supplied). If the TUNING/ BATTERY meter indicates below 10 (with power off), the sound weakens, or the SW-100 does not operate property, replace the batteries. Follow these steps to install/replace batteries. 1. Push down the battery compartment cover tabs and remove the cover plate. CAUTIONS: Remove the batteries if you do not plan to use your SW-100 for a week or more, or you plan to use an optional power source. Use only fresh D batteries for best results. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic circuits. 2. Install or replace four D size batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) located outside the battery compartment. We recommend alkaline batteries such as CAT. No. 23-550. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. To use AC power or to power the SW-100 from your vehicle's electrical system, see "Optional Power Sources." ATTACHING THE REMOVABLE STRAP The removable strap allows you "hands free" movement while you listen to your radio. Follow these steps to attach the strap: 1. Insert the strap end downward into one of the two strap hanger bars. 2. Loop the strap end around the bar and pull upward on the strap. 3. Insert the free end of the strap back into the upper part of the buckle. 4. Pull the strap end through to top of the buckle far enough to stop the strap from slipping. 5. Repeat steps 1 - 5 for the other strap end. To shorten the strap for hand carrying, slide the two buckles together. To lengthen the strap for shoulder carrying, slide the two buckles apart.
