Chronomatic-297 AM/FM Stereo Clock Radio with LED Display (120-1597) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 18068 CONNECTING TO AC POWER Plug the AC power cord into a standard AC outlet. 12:00 flashes on the display. INSTALLING/REPLACING THE BACK-UP BATTERY To keep the clock radio running during an AC power failure, install one 9-volt rectangular battery (not supplied). For the best results, we recommend an alkaline battery such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-553. NOTE: Before you install the back-up battery, plug in the AC power cord to prevent unnecessary drain on the battery. 1. Press down on the tab above the battery compartment cover and pull it down to remove the cover. 2. Remove the old battery (if any) from the battery compartment, then unsnap it from the battery connector. CAUTIONS: Always dispose of the old battery promptly and properly. Never leave a dead, old, or weak battery in the Chronomatic- 297. Batteries can leak chemicals and corrode or damage electronic circuits. 3. Snap a new battery onto the battery connector. CAUTION: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and type. 4. Place the new battery and battery connector in the battery compartment. 5. Replace the cover. During a power failure, the time does not appear on the display, but the clock, and alarm remain functional. If the Chronomatic-297Æs display flashes when power is restored, replace the battery and reset the clock. The BATTERY SENTINEL indicator (a small red dot on the lower right of the display) lights when the back-up battery is weak, dead, or not installed. Replace the back-up battery when the indicator lights. (EB 11/21/95)
