Clarinette-96 3-Piece AM/FM Compact Stereo w/Cassette Tape Player/Recorder, Full Auto-Changer (130-1203) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 19791 This unit does not have bias shift for the tape deck. It uses standard tapes. OPERATING HINTS 1. Use high quality tapes to obtain maximum quality reproduction from pre-recorded tapes and for recordings. We recommend the following types of tape: Realistic and Supertape, with a play or record time up to 90 minutes. 2. We do not recommend tapes with a play or record time of 120 minutes (C120) because these thinner and longer tapes have a greater chance to malfunction and jam, damaging the mechanism. 3. To obtain good play and record reproduction the heads must be clean. The heads should be cleaned after 10 to 20 hours of use. Refer to Care and Maintenance. Also keep the tapes away from areas of excessive heat and cold. 4. If there is slack in the tape, remove it before inserting the cartridge. To do so, insert a pencil into the hub and rotate clockwise. 5. A leader tape is provided at the beginning of each cartridge. There is no playing or recording on this area. It is necessary to let the tape run for about five seconds to clean the heads. NOTE: When starting the tape in either play or record mode, be certain there is movement of the Tape Run Counter before proceeding. Lack of movement by the counter could mean a malfunction of the cartridge. Immediately stop the machine; failure to do so could result in the tape becoming entangled in the mechanism. If this should happen, carefully remove the cartridge and correct it as shown above before continuing. (YO/EB 5/3/96)
