To protect the receiver from water, insert the rubber plug into the headphone jack when you are not listening to the radio. Listening Safely To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use headphones. Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable listening level. Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended high volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss. Once you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so a volume level that does not cause discomfort might still damage your hearing. Traffic Safety Do not wear headphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can create a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas. Even though some headphones are designed to let you hear some outside sounds when you listen at normal volume levels, they still present a traffic hazard. USING THE BELT CLIP For hands-free carrying, you can slide the clip over your belt. To attach the belt clip, place it in the recessed area on the back of the radio and slide it down until it snaps into place. To detach the belt clip, lift the belt clips tab, slide the belt clip up, and remove it. USING THE ARMBAND The removable armband allows hands-free movement while you listen to your radio. Follow these steps to attach the armband. 1. Push the belt clip up and remove it from the radio, if necessary (see "Using the Belt Clip"). 2. Insert the free end of the armband down onto one of the belt clip's bars. 3. Loop the armband and insert it onto the belt clip's other bar and pull it up far enough to stop the armband from slipping. 4. Insert the free end of the armband through the buckle. 5. Attach the belt clip to the radio. To lengthen the armband, slide the buckle toward the free end of the armband. To shorten the armband, pull the free end of the armband in the opposite direction. To tighten the armband, loop the free end through the first opening of the buckle and pull it until it tightens. (br/all-12/19/94)
