You need two AA batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552 to power
the radio.  Follow these steps to install the batteries.

Notes:  If radio signals are intermittent, or if the radio does not
        operate properly, replace the batteries.

        Remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the radio for a
        week or more.  Weak batteries can leak chemicals and damage the
        radio.

1.  Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow.
    Then remove the cover.

2.  Insert two AA batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    marked on the back of the unit.

3.  Replace the battery compartment cover.
