PLAYING THE RADIO

Follow these steps to play the radio.

1.  To turn on the radio, turn VOL/OFF up until it clicks.

2.  Set FM/AM switch to the desired band.

3.  Adjust TUNING to the desired station.

Note:  The radio has two antennas.  The AM antenna is built in.  For best
       AM reception, adjust the radio's position.  For best FM reception,
       fully extend the telescoping antenna.

4.  Adjust VOL to a comfortable listening level.

5.  To turn off the radio, turn VOL/OFF down until it clicks.

USING THE EARPHONES

To listen in privacy, insert the supplied earphone's 1/8-inch plug into
the EAR jack.

This automatically disconnects the radio's internal speaker.

LISTENING SAFELY

To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use the
earphones.

      Do not listen at extremely high volume levels.  Extended high-volume
      listening can lead to permanent hearing loss.

      Set the volume to its lowest level before you begin listening.
      After you put on the earphones, adjust the volume to a comfortable
      listening level.

      Do not increase the volume once you have established a comfortable
      listening level.  Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so
      a volume level that does not cause discomfort might still damage
      your hearing.

Traffic Safety

Do not wear the earphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a
bicycle.  This can cause a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas.
Even though some earphones are designed to let you hear outside sounds
when listening at normal volume levels, they still present a traffic
hazard.

FCC INFORMATION

The radio might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operating
properly.  To determine whether your radio is causing the interference,
turn off your radio.  If the interference goes away, your radio is causing
the interference.  Try to eliminate the interference by:

      Moving your radio from the receiver

      Contacting your local Radio Shack store for help

      If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you
      stop using the radio.
