AM/FM Portable Radio (120-0726) Power Faxback Doc. # 3856 USING BATTERIES You can power the radio from four C batteries. We recommend alkaline batteries, such as Cat. No. 23-551. Follow these steps to install the batteries. 1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pushing in the cover's two tabs and then pulling the cover in the direction of the arrows. 2. Install four C batteries (not included) in the lower level of the compartment, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. 4. Set AC/DC to DC. Caution: Remove batteries if you do not plan to use the radio for a week or more, or if you use AC power. Old or weak batteries can leak chemicals and damage the radio. Note: When the sound becomes weak or distorted, replace the old batteries with fresh ones. USING AC POWER You can power the radio from standard AC power. Follow these steps to operate the radio using AC power. 1. To remove the battery compartment cover, push in the cover's two tabs and then pull the cover down in the direction of the arrows. 2. Pull out the AC power cord from the upper level of the compartment. 3. Route the power cord through the slot on the battery compartment cover and replace the cover. 4. Set AC/DC to AC. 5.
