D-844K Sony Car Discman (420-5057) Car Operation Faxback Doc. # 31577 PLAYING A CD IN A CAR You can play a CD in a car, using your Discman on car battery. You can also use it on the house current, rechargeable battery and dry batteries (see "Power Sources" on Faxback Doc. # 31576). For how to install in a car, see "Installing in a Car" on Faxback Doc. # 31509. 1. Connect (See Faxback Doc. # 31509, Fig. A ). 2. Place a CD A. Press OPEN ( /\ OPEN/CLOSE for D-844K) to open the lid. B. Fit the CD to the pivot and close the lid (press /\ OPEN/CLOSE for D-844K). 3. Play A. Start playback on the car cassette deck. B. Press > ||. C. Adjust the volume. To stop play, press [] STOP/DISPLAY OFF. To Press Pause > || Resume play after > || pause Find the beginning |<< once** of the current track (AMS*) Find the beginning |<< of the previous repeatedly** tracks (AMS) Find the beginning >>| once** of the next track (AMS) Find the beginning >>| of the succeeding repeatedly** tracks (AMS) Go forward Hold down quickly >>|** Go backwards Hold down quickly |<<** AMS = Automatic Music Sensor ** These operations are possible during both play and pause. TO REMOVE THE CD Remove the CD while pressing the pivot. To remove the car connecting pack Press the /\ (eject) button of the car cassette deck. Notes on opening and closing the lid (D-844K only) * When you press /\ OPEN/CLOSE, be careful not to pinch your fingers between the lid and the unit. * If your fingers are pinched while the lid is opening or closing, open the lid. The lid is designed to open in such a case. * After you have inserted a CD, you can close the lid by pressing >||. Notes on the car cassette deck * Turn down the volume. * Set the tape selector to the normal (TYPE I) position, and the DOLBY NR, REPEAT or BLANK SKIP switch to OFF if they are equipped. Notes on display * When you press >|| (when RESUME is set to OFF), the total number of the tracks in the CD and the total playing time appear for 2 seconds. * During play, the track number and the elapsed playing time of the current track appear. * Between tracks, the time to the beginning of the next track will appear with the minus " - " indication. Notes on handling CDs * To keep the CD clean, handle it by its edge. Do not touch the surface. * Do not stick paper or tape onto the CD. * Do not expose the CD to direct sunlight or heat sources such as hot air ducts.
