AMX-5 Amplified Speaker System (400-1387) Operation Faxback Doc. # 32752 1. Set VOLUME to MIN, then (if the speaker system is connected to a headphone jack) be sure that the audio source's volume is also set to its lowest level. 2. Set AMPLIFIER to ON to turn on the speaker system, then turn on the audio source. 3. If the speaker system is connected to a headphone jack, first adjust the audio source's volume control, then set VOLUME on the speaker system to a comfortable listening level. CAUTION: Setting the audio source's volume too loud can cause sound distortion, damage the speaker system, and even damage your hearing. If the speaker system is connected to a line-out jack, simply adjust VOLUME on the speaker system to the desired level. NOTES: For the best stereo effect, position the speakers apart from each other and facing the center of the listening area. To set the speakers at an angle, fold down each speaker's built-in stand, then set the speakers on a flat surface. 4. To enhance the bass or treble sound, set BASS or TREBLE to BOOST IN. Set them back to BOOST OUT to resume normal bass and treble sound. 5. To turn off the speaker system, set AMPLIFIER to OFF. Then turn off the audio source. NOTES: If the connected audio source's output does not exceed 2 watts, you can use the speaker system with AMPLIFIER set to OFF. The speaker system's volume and BASS and TREBLE BOOST controls have no effect while AMPLIFIER is set to OFF. CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS For easy carrying or compact storage, you can lock the speakers together. 1. Wrap equal lengths of speaker cord around the recessed tabs on the back of each speaker. 2. As illustrated above, press the speakers together, back-to-back, so the tabs on the back of the right speaker fit into the holes on the back of the left speaker. 3. Grasp and hold the left speaker in place and slide the right speaker downward to lock the speakers together. (YO/all-05/14/96)
