STA-825 DIGITAL SYNTHESIZED AM/FM STEREO RECEIVER (310-2105) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 32772 Your Optimus STA-825 AM/FM Stereo Receiver is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your receiver so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the receiver dry. If it does get wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits. Use and store the receiver only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices and distort or melt plastic parts. Handle the receiver gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit boards and cases and can cause the receiver to work improperly. Keep the receiver away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the receiver with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean your receiver. Modifying or tampering with the receiver's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your FCC author- ization to operate the receiver. If your receiver is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store. Our Personnel can assist you and arrange for service if needed. THE FCC WANTS YOU TO KNOW Your receiver might cause interference on other radio/TV devices even when it is operating properly. To determine whether your receiver is causing the interference, turn off your receiver. If the interference goes away, your receiver is causing the interference. Try to eliminate the interference by: Moving your receiver away from the other device. Connecting your receiver to an outlet that is on a different electrical circuit from the other device. Contacting your local Radio Shack store for help. If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using your receiver. CAUTION: Any changes or modifications in construction of this device which are not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. REPLACING THE FUSE The receiver's fuse protects it from short circuits and AC power surges. If the receiver stops working and the PROTECTION indicator is not on, replace the fuse. Use a fuse rated at 2.5 amps and at least 125 volts. CAUTION: To protect the receiver, use only the recommended type of fuse. If the receiver stops working and the PROTECTION indicator comes on, or if you replace the fuse and the receiver still does not work, see "Built-in Protection Circuits", on Faxback Doc. # 19451. Follow these steps to replace the fuse. WARNING: To avoid a shock hazard, turn off the POWER and unplug the receiver's power cord before you replace the fuse. 1. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the fuse compartment cap on the back of the receiver. 2. Remove the old fuse and place the new fuse in the fuse compartment cap. Then, replace the cap and use a screwdriver to screw it back into the fuse compartment. (BR/EB 4/29/96)
