Clarinette-96 3-Piece AM/FM Compact Stereo w/Cassette Tape Player/Recorder, Full Auto-Changer (130-1203) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 32847 PREPARATION FOR USE Carefully remove all packing material before operating this unit. Place unit on a sturdy, level surface convenient to an AC outlet supplying ordinary household current (105 - 120 V AC 60 Hz). Do not plug unit into AC outlet at this time. When locating your component system avoid high heat areas as excessive heat MAY result in damage to your tapes and cabinet parts. DUST COVER The dust cover pivot-arc fits into the slot at the rear of the motorboard. It is designed to pivot back to provide access for loading records, or it can be removed if desired. Be sure the pivot-arc is properly seated in the slot, and grasp the center of the handle when lifting the cover. PHONOGRAPH Float the changer by turning the transit screws clockwise until they are even with the changer base. Press down on rear portion of the stabilizer arm and swing it to the center of the turntable, and rotate the turntable manually for several revolutions to make sure it is free and not in the midst of a change cycle. Remove the needle guard. CONNECTION OF SPEAKERS Place the speakers at convenient locations on either side of the unit. Usually a distance of five to eight feet between speakers provides the best stereo effect, but this may vary depending on the acoustics and size of your room.. NEVER OPERATE THE UNIT WITHOUT THE SPEAKERS CONNECTED. Connect the Speakers to the MAIN SPEAKER output jacks - be sure to connect the Left channel speaker to the "L" jack and Right to "R." If you would like, you can connect a second pair of speakers to the REMOTE jacks. The speakers you connect to the REMOTE Jacks should be of fairly good quality to be sure you hear all sounds that can be recovered from normal stereo sources. Your Radio Shack store carries a complete selection of speakers suitable for the rear channel sound. POWER SOURCE Plug the power cord into a convenient AC socket supplying ordinary household current (105 - 120V AC 60 Hz). NEVER CONNECT THE POWER CORD TO ANY OTHER VOLTAGE SOURCE AS THIS CAN DAMAGE THE UNIT. AND IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. Reversing the plug in the power outlet may reduce any background noise. NOTE: The power cord serves as the built-in antenna for FM reception. It must be uncoiled and extended full length for maximum efficiency. Be sure all connections have been made properly - especially that your speakers are connected. CONTROL SETTINGS Preset Treble, Bass and Balance Controls to mid range; set Volume about 1/4 of range. Adjust them for the desired sound and tone reproduced from the selected program. (YO/EB 5/3/96)
