Clarinette-96 3-Piece AM/FM Compact Stereo w/Cassette Tape Player/Recorder, Full Auto-Changer (130-1203) Operation Faxback Doc. # 32848 OPERATING YOUR CLARINETTE-96 Push POWER Button in. AM RECEPTION ... Push in AM Button and tune in your desired program by rotating the Tuning knob (adjust for maximum deflection on signal meter). FM RECEPTION ... Push in FM Button and tune in your desired program by rotating the Tuning Knob. Tune for center scale reading on the FM tuning meter. For drift-free reception, push in the FM Stereo Button. NOTE: Excessive noise on a stereo station is normally caused by a weak signal being received. This noise may be reduced by pushing in the HI FILTER button or by pressing the FM button. You may want to add an external FM antenna to improve reception on a weak station. (See "ANTENNAS", on Faxback Doc. # 32846) CHANGER OPERATION Push in PHONO button to play records. The POWER switch need not be on for phono operation. Power to the amplifier and changer is turned on and off by the switch on the record changer. OPERATING THE RECORD CHANGER 1. Move RECORD SELECT control to the size of record to be played (7, 10, or 12 inches). 2. Move RECORD SPEED control to the correct RPM speed (33, 45, or 78). 3. Grasp the RECORD STABILIZER ARM at the rear, raise it to its highest position and swing to the right over the TONE ARM. FOR AUTOMATIC OPERATION 4. Place up to six records of the same size and speed on the AUTOMATIC SPINDLE. Return the STABILIZER ARM to the center position and lower it onto the stack of records. The POWER switch should be in the OFF position for automatic shut off. Do not intermix record sizes and speeds. CUEING LEVER must be in the lowered (forward) position. 5. Move the STOP-START-AUTO control to the AUTO position and hold it momentarily before slowly releasing. The phonograph will play all the records automatically and turn the changer and amplifier off after the last record has played - if the POWER switch is in the "off" position. 6. To reject a record, move the STOP-START-AUTO control to the AUTO position and hold it momentarily before slowly releasing. The next record will drop into position for playing. NOTE: Avoid turning off your RECORD CHANGER while it is in the process of changing a record; turn it off only after its change cycle is completed. 7. To remove the records, lift the RECORD STABILIZER ARM and position it over the TONE ARM. Carefully lift the stack of records and guide them upward past the spindle top. To replay a stack of records, you must lift them completely off the AUTOMATIC SPINDLE before reloading them. FOR MANUAL CHANGER OPERATION Follow 1 through 3 as noted on previous page. 1. Remove the long spindle by grasping and slightly twisting while pulling up. Insert the short spindle into the center hole. 2. Place record on the turntable and move STOP-START-AUTO control lever to START. Do not swing stabilizer arm back over the center spindle. 3. Use CUEING LEVER to set tone arm on the records. Move lever to the rear, position tone are over the desired selection on the record, and bring the lever forward to lower the tone arm. The CUEING LEVER can also be used as a pause control when you want to interrupt play and then return the needle stylus to the same groove. 4. To shut off unit in manual operation after record has played, move STOP START-AUTO control lever to STOP. To have unit shut off automatically after record has been played, return and lower stabilizer arm to its center position after placing tone arm on the record. To reinsert the automatic record spindle, align the spindle side projection with the slot in the turntable center hole. Then firmly push the spindle into the hole until you hear a click. INSERTING 45 RPM ADAPTER To play 45 RPM records (with large center hole), place the rectangular 45 adapter over the automatic spindle so that the ledge of the adapter points toward the right rear corner of the record changer. When adapter is positioned properly, it will slide into place without excessive pressure. (YO/EB 5/3/96)
