MR3950 Personal Compact Disc Player (420-5050) Operation Faxback Doc. 33115 Attention: This unit is equipped with Automatic power-Off Function. However, you are always recommended to make sure that you turn off the CD player by pressing STOP/CLEAR button twice, after you have finished listening. After using the AC adapter, be sure to disconnect it from the household AC outlet. Do not listen to headphones at high volume levels, as this may damage your hearing. How to set a compact disc. Push the OPEN button to open the compact disc cover. Then gently lift the front of the cover, up to the fully open position. Insert a compact disc with the label facing up until it is "clicked" and chucked firmly at the chuck's head. Then close the disc door. TOC (Table of Contents) Display In STOP mode, the total number of tracks on the disc and the total play back time will appear on the display. 1. HOLD In "HOLD" mode, no key buttons will work. You do not need to worry about the unit in your bag, if "HOLD" switch is on. 2. XTRA BASS BOOST Turn the XTRA BASS BOOST switch on if you want to boost low frequency levels to enjoy the dynamic sound. 3. PAUSE Press the PLAY/PAUSE button during play back to enter the pause mode, the pause (II) indicator will be lit on the display. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to resume playback. LOW BATTERY ALERT When the BATT indicator in the LCD panel comes on, this means that the batteries are losing their charge. In this cases the CD player will not function properly and the batteries must be replaced or recharged. CONNECTION TO OTHER EQUIPMENT The line out jack on this unit is for connection to external Hi-Fi equipment. Connect the provided pin cord into the AUX or LINE IN input jack of the external equipment you wish to use. The white plug of Line-out cord should be connected to L (Left) channel and the red one to R (Right) channel. WARNING: Do not connect into the PHONO input jack of external amplifier. Always make sure that you have turned off all the equipment before connection. CONVENIENT PLAYBACK FUNCTIONS SKIP The skip function can be used during the playback, stop or pause mode to skip to any track on the disc. 1. FORWARD SKIP Press the forward SKIP button repeatedly until you reach the desired track. 2. REVERSE SKIP Press the reverse SKIP button repeatedly, until you reach the desired track. In Program Memory PLayback mode (refer to the "Program Memory Playback" section below), the track will be skipped in the programmed order. SEARCH The search function can be used, during the playback or pause mode, to locate any point on the disc (in the middle of a track for example). 1. FORWARD SKIP Press and hold the forward SKIP button during the playback or pause mode. Release the button when the desired playback point is found. 2. REVERSE SKIP Press and hold the reverse SKIP button during the playback or pause mode. Release the button when the desired playback point is found. * In Program Memory Playback mode (refer to the "Program Memory Playback" section, below), the track will be skipped in the programmed order. PLAYING BACK A COMPACT DISC 1. Push the OPEN button to open the compact disc cover. Then gently lift the front of the cover, up to the fully open position. 2. Insert a compact disc with the label facing up until it is chucked firmly at the chucking head. Then close the cover. 3. Connect the headphones plug into the Headphone jack. 4. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. This turns on the unit and starts playback. 5. Adjust the VOLUME control. 6. Pressing the STOP/CLEAR button to stop playback. 7. Press the STOP/CLEAR button again to turn off the power of the unit. Automatic Power-Off Function In STOP mode, the unit automatically shuts down 1 minute (approx) after the last operation. Press PLAY/PAUSE to reactivate the unit. INTRO PLAY The intro scan function plays back the first 10 seconds (approx.) of each track, in regular order to check the contents of the disc. 1. Press MODE button repeatedly to select "INTRO PLAY" when the unit is in the stop mode. 2. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to start. * If the MODE button is pressed during playing back, the "INTRO" indicator blinks on the display and the unit plays back the first 10 seconds (approx.) of each track just after the current track. PROGRAM MEMORY PLAYBACK The Program Memory Playback function can be used to program the CD player to playback a disc in any order that you wish. Up to 20 tracks can be programmed. Programs can be set in the STOP mode or in the PLAY mode. 1. Press the MEMORY button when the unit is in the stop mode, the "MEMO" indicator blinks and "P-1" appears on the display. 2. Press the forward or reverse SKIP button repeatedly until the desired track number (that you want to play back first) is displayed. 3. Press the MEMORY button. The track you want to play back first is programmed. 4. The LCD indicator goes to "P-2". Now the unit is ready for programming the second track. 5. Press the forward or reverse SKIP button repeatedly until the track number that you want to play back next is displayed. 6. Again press the forward or reverse SKIP button repeatedly until the track number that you want to play back next is displayed. 7. To terminate programming, push PLAY/PAUSE button or STOP button once. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start the memorized programs. During the memory playback, pressing the STOP button makes the unit stop without clearing the programmed tracks. REPEAT PLAYBACK This feature can be used to repeatedly play back the entire compact disc, single track or random program playback. Once set, the repeat playback mode will not be canceled until the STOP button is pressed. 1. Press the MODE button, and select "REPEAT 1" (to play back single track) or REPEAT ALL "(to play back the entire compact disc). LCD display will show "REPEAT 1" or "REPEAT ALL". 2. Press the play/pause button to start. In the Program Memory Playback mode (refer to the "Program Memory PLayback" section). only programmed tracks will be repeatedly played back. SHUFFLE PLAY The shuffle play function plays all the section in a random order once. 1. Press MODE button until "SHUFFLE" appears. The "SHUFFLE" indicator will light on the display. 2. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to start. * If the MODE button is pressed during playing back, the "SHUFFLE" indicator blinks on the display and the unit plays back all the selection in a random order after playing back the current track.
