CAUTION: When the tape is fully rewound to the beginning, press STOP to release REW. USING THE TONE CONTROLS You can use the tone controls to customize the SCP-72's sound. TREBLE - slide the control toward MAX to increase the volume of high tones, or toward NORM to decrease them. BASS - slide the control toward MAX to increase the volume of low tones, or toward NORM to decrease them. SUPER BASS - slide the control toward MAX to increase the volume of the tones affected by the bass control and lower tones, or toward NORM to decrease them. NOTE: If you set SUPER BASS to MAX, the bass and treble controls have no effect. TAPE TIPS AND TECHNIQUES The following tips can help you get the best performance and the longest life from your SCP-72. NOTE: For the best performance, use only regular length (60- or 90-minute) cassette tapes. Long-playing cassette tapes such as C-120s are not recommended because they are extremely thin and easily tangle. RESTORING TAPE TENSION AND SOUND QUALITY After you play a cassette tape several times, the tape might become tightly wound on the reels. This can cause playback sound quality to deteriorate. To restore the sound quality, fast-forward the tape from the beginning to the end of one side, then completely rewind it. Then, loosen the tape reels by gently tapping each side of the cassette's outer shell on a flat surface CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the cassette when tapping it. Do not touch the exposed tape or allow any sharp objects near the cassette. (LB/EB 06/21/96)
