SCP-72 Stereo Cassette Player (140-1214) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 33708 CLEANING THE TAPE HANDLING PARTS Dirt, dust, or particles of the tape's coating can accumulate on the tape heads and other parts the tape touches. This can greatly reduce the performance of the SCP-72. You should clean the tape head, pinch roller, capstan, and tape guide after about every 20 hours of tape player operation. Your local Radio Shack store sells a complete line of cleaning accessories. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your SCP-72 Stereo Cassette Player is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the SCP-72 so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the SCP-72 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that corrode the electronic circuits. Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that destroy electronic circuits. Handle the SCP-72 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit board and case and can cause the SCP-72 to work improperly. Use and store the SCP-72 only in normal temperature environments. Temperatures extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts. Keep the SCP-72 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the SCP-72 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean it. Modifying or tampering with the SCP-72's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the SCP-72's warranty. If your SCP-72 is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. (LB/EB 06/21/96)
