MICRO-34 Voice-Activated Microcassette Tape Recorder (140-1061) Power Faxback Doc. # 33757 POWER SOURCES You can power your MICRO-34 from either: Internal battery power (2 AA batteries, not supplied) AC power (with an optional AC adapter) USING BATTERIES You can use two AA batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552, to power your MICRO-34. Or, you can use optional rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (Cat. No. 23-125) with a battery charger (Cat. No. 23-133). CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Do not mix non-rechargeable batteries with rechargeable batteries, or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. Never leave dead or weak batteries in the MICRO-34. Dispose of old batteries promptly; do not bury or burn them. Follow these steps to install batteries. 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover and slide it off in the direction of the arrow. 2. Insert the batteries into the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked beside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the cover. NOTE: If you do not plan to use the MICRO-34 for several days, remove the batteries. IMPORTANT: Your recorder is capable of using rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries. At the end of the batteries' useful life, they must be recycled or disposed of properly. Contact your local, county, or state hazardous waste management authorities for information on recycling or disposal programs in your area. Some options that might be available are: municipal curbside collection, drop-off boxes at retailers, recycling collection centers, and mailback programs. USING AC POWER To power the MICRO-34 from an AC outlet, you need an AC adapter (not supplied), such as Cat. No. 273-1663. CAUTIONS: Always plug the AC adapter into the MICRO-34 before you plug it into the AC outlet, and unplug the adapter from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the MICRO-34. You must use an AC adapter that supplies 3 volts DC power and delivers at least 400 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to positive, and its plug must properly fit the MICRO-34's EXT DC 3V jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the MICRO-34 or the adapter. Follow these steps to power the MICRO-34 from standard AC power. 1. Set the Ac adapter's voltage switch to 3V. 2. Attach the pink-tipped barrel plug to the AC adapter's cord with the tip set to positive (+). 3. Insert the AC adapter's barrel plug into the recorder's EXT DC 3V jack. This disconnects internal batteries. 4. Plug the other end of the AC adapter into a standard AC outlet. (YO/EB 6/17/96)
