SCP-71 Stereo Mate 3-Key Stereo Cassette Player with Auto-Stop (140-1213) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 33877 To enjoy your Radio Shack SCP-71 Stereo Mate 3-Key Stereo Cassette Player with Auto-Stop for a long time: Keep the SCP-71 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the SCP-71 only in normal temperature environments. Handle the SCP-71 gently and carefully. Keep the SCP-71 away from dust and dirt. Occasionally wipe the SCP-71 with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean it. Modifying or tampering with the SCP-71's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty. If your SCP-71 is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. CLEANING THE TAPE-HANDLING PARTS Dirt, dust, or particles of the tape's coating can accumulate on the tape heads and other parts that the tape touches. This can reduce the SCP-71's performance. Follow these steps to clean the tape playback head after about every 20 hours of tape player operation. 1. Remove the batteries and disconnect any other power source. 2. Open the cassette compartment door. 3. Press PLAY to expose the tape-handling parts. 4. Use a cotton swab dipped in denatured alcohol or tape head cleaning solution to clean the playback head, pinch roller, and capstan. 5. When you finish cleaning, press STOP and close the door. NOTE: Your local Radio Shack store sells a complete line of cassette cleaning supplies. (YO/EB 6/21/96)
