Optimus XTS-10 Swivel Speaker System (400-2078) Connections Faxback Doc. # 33894 With the speakers placed in the selected locations, route the speaker wire from each speaker to the receiver/amplifier. NOTE: Use 18-gauge speaker wire for distances up to 25 feet. For greater distance, use 16-gauge wire. Your local Radio Shack store has a wide selection of speaker wire. Follow these steps to connect the speakers to your receiver/amplifier. 1. Separate the conductors for a length of about 2 inches on each end. 2. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of each conductor, then twist each end. 3. Press the right speaker's red (positive) terminal tab and insert the marked conductor into the opening, then release the tab. NOTE: Improper phasing can decrease bass sounds. To help you connect speaker terminals in proper phase (+ to + and - to -), one conductor of each pair of wires is marked with a stripe or groove. Some wire's insulation is clear, and the wires are different colors. 4. Press the right speaker's black (negative) terminal tab and insert the other conductor into the opening, then release the tab. 5. Insert the other end of the marked conductor into your receiver/ amplifier's right positive terminal. 6. Connect the remaining conductor to the receiver/amplifier's right negative terminal. 7. Repeat these steps for the left speaker. (YO/EB 6/19/96)
