System 713 (130-1260) Recording Faxback Doc. # 7829 Recoding from the Radio or Cd Player Select RADIO or CD and then tune to a station or load a CD. Insert a cassette you want to record on into Deck 2, and press PAUSE and RECORD. When the selection you want on the radio or CD player plays, release PAUSE. Note: Sometimes AM broadcasts produce a hum or whistling sound that you hear while listening or recording from the tuner. To reduce or eliminate this sound, set HI SPEED DUBBING/FM MONO/BEAT CUT to the position that gives you the best quality recording. Recording from an External Audio Source Note: You need a microphone with a 1/8-inch plug to record an external audio source. Your local Radio Shack store carries a wide selection of microphones. 1. Press TAPE. The TAPE indicator lights. 2. Load the cassette you want to record on into Deck 2. 3. Plug a microphone into the MIC jack. 4. Set VOLUME to MIN to avoid feedback. Note: Press PAUSE to temporarily stop recording. Press PAUSE again to resume recording. 6. Recording stops automatically when the cassette ends. Press STOP to stop recording sooner. Making A Mixed Recording (Pre-Recorded and Live Audio) 1. Press TAPE. The TAPE indicator lights. 2. Load the cassette you want to record on into Deck 2 and the one you want to record from into Deck 1. 3. Insert a microphone with a 1/8-inch plug into the MIC jack. 4. Press PAUSE and RECORD on Deck 2. Press PLAY on Deck 1 when you are ready to record. You can sing or speak along with the cassette playing in Deck 1. Your voice and the music will be mixed and recorded on the cassette in Deck 2. Note: To avoid feedback, set VOLUME close to MIN. 5. Recording stops automatically when the cassette in Deck 2 ends, or you can press STOP on both decks to stop recording at any time. USING AN AUXILIARY UNIT 1. Turn VOLUME to MIN. 2. Press AUX. The AUX indicator lights. 3. Operate the auxiliary unit according to its owner's manual. 4. Adjust the System 713's VOLUME, E-BASS, BALANCE, AND FIVE-BAND FREQUENCY EQUALIZER for the desired sound.
