Minimus 0.8 (400-1313) Power Source Faxback Doc. # 9621 You can power your speaker system from three different sources: battery power, AC power, and DC power. USING BATTERIES You can power your speaker system with eight C batteries (four in each speaker). We recommend you use alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 230-0551. Follow these steps to install the batteries in each speaker. 1. Press the tab on the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow marked on the cover and pull it towards you. 2. Install four C batteries, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. CAUTION: Weak batteries can swell and leak. To avoid damage to the speakers, remove the batteries when you are not planning to use the system for a week or more, or if you are planning to use AC or DC power. NOTE: If the sound weakens, replace the batteries. USING AC POWER You can power the speaker system from standard household AC power. Using AC power requires an adapter (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1655. Follow these steps to power the speaker system from AC power. 1. Insert the adapter's barrel plug into the speaker system's DC 6V jack located on the back of the system. 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power your speaker system from your vehicle's battery power (DC power) through the vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. Using DC power requires a power adapter (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 140-0844. Follow these steps to use DC power. 1. Set the power adapter's voltage switch to 6V. 2. Insert the power adapter's barrel plug into the speaker system's DC 6V jack located on the back of the speaker system. 3. Plug the other end of the power adapter into the vehicle's cigarette- lighter socket. CAUTIONS: Your vehicle must have a 12-volt DC, negative-ground electrical system. You must use an AC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at least 700 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to negative and its plug must correctly fit the system's DC 6V jack. The recommended adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the system or the adapter. Disconnect the power adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you disconnect it from the speaker system. Otherwise, you might damage the power adapter or the vehicle's electrical system.
