PROBLEM                                      CAUSE/REMEDY

No power to system even with Power on.       Power plug is not connected
                                             properly.

                                             Check the AC power cord.

Cassette does not sit properly in tape       Tape is inserted with exposed
deck.                                        tape facing up.  Insert the
                                             cassette tape with the
                                             exposed tape facing down.

PLAY does not lock in down                   Tape is at the end of the
position.                                    side and auto stop is
                                             activated.  Remove the
                                             cassette and reinsert it so
                                             the other side faces down.

RECORD does not lock down.                   Plastic tab(s) on the
                                             cassette have been broken
                                             off.  Cover the missing
                                             tab(s) with tape.  Each
                                             side's hole must be covered
                                             separately.

Will not record from TUNER or                Hi-Speed Dubbing switch is
PH/CD/AUX.                                   ON.  Set the switch to OFF.

Tape does not run.                           Pause is pressed.  Release
                                             Pause key.

Tape runs but no sound is                    1.  Volume is at its
