Component Stereo System (130-1271) Care/Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 9761 You should follow a careful maintenance schedule to achieve the best performance and prolong the system's life. CAUTION: Always turn off the system and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet before cleaning. CLEANING THE CABINET Do not use chemicals, harsh detergents, or abrasive cleaners to clean the cabinet. Wipe off dust and stains with a soft cloth moistened only with a mild soap and water solution. CLEANING THE TAPE DECK The tape heads, pinch rollers, and capstan require cleaning every 10 to 15 hours of tape play. To clean, insert a head-cleaning cassette, available at your local Radio Shack store, into the player and operate the system in a normal manner for 1 to 2 minutes, or follow the instructions included with the head-cleaner cassette. You can also clean the deck parts by using a cotton swab moistened with a head-cleaner solution, available at your local Radio Shack store. Gently rub the tape heads, pinch rollers. and capstans with the moist cotton swab. CHOOSING CASSETTE TAPES We recommend you only use tapes 100 minutes or shorter in length, produced by well-known manufacturers. Longer tapes can jam your tape desk or cause inferior performance. For recording, use only normal bias cassette tapes. (LB/all-02/22/95)
