Follow these steps to use the radio.

1.  Turn on the radio, set TAPE/RADIO to RADIO.

2.  Set FM ST/FM/AM to the desired band using the following guidelines:

    Set it to FM ST for stereo sound on FM stations.

    Set it to FM to improve reception for weak FM stereo stations.

    Set it to AM for AM stations.

3.  Adjust TUNING to select the desired radio station.

    Notes:  For best FM reception, fully uncoil the headphone's or
            speaker's cord (The cord is the FM antenna).

            For the best AM reception, move the SCP-54 (the AM antenna
            is built-in).

            The battery indicator lights during FM stereo reception.

4.  Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening level.

5.  To turn off the radio, set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE.

CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER OPERATION

LOADING A CASSETTE TAPE

1.  Pull open the cassette compartment door.

2.  Insert a cassette tape into the cassette guides so the open edge
    faces up and the full reel is toward the volume control.

3.  Close the cassette compartment door.

PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE

1.  Load a cassette tape.

2.  Connect headphones or speakers to the PHONES jack.

3.  Set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE.

4.  To start play, press PLAY.

    To fast-forward the cassette tape, press FAST-F.  The button locks,
    PLAY releases, and the tape fast-forwards until it reaches the end
    of the tape or until you press STOP.

    To rewind the cassette tape, press REWIND.  The button locks, PLAY
    releases, and the tape rewinds until it reaches the end of the tape
    or until you press STOP.

    Note:  If the batteries are weak, the battery indicator lights when
           you press PLAY.

5.  Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable listening level.

6.  To stop play, press STOP.
