SCP-53 (140-1093) Operation Faxback Doc. # 9815 1. Connect headphones or amplified speakers to the PHONES jack. 2. Set TAPE/RADIO to RADIO. 3. Set FM ST./FM/AM to the desired band. 4. Adjust VOL. to the desired listening level. 5. Turn TUNING to select the station. Notes: The FM ST. indicator lights when you select the FM ST band and tune to a strong FM signal. To improve the reception of a weak FM station, set FM/ST./FM/AM to FM. The signal changes from stereo to monaural. 6. Set BASS BOOST to ON for an enhanced bass effect. Set it to OFF for normal bass sound. 7. Set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE to turn off the radio. CASSETTE PLAYER OPERATION PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE 1. Connect headphones or amplified speakers to the PHONES jack. 2. Take up any slack in the tape by turning the cassette's hub with a pencil. Do not touch the exposed tape. 3. Pull open the cassette compartment door. 4. With its open edge facing up, insert the cassette tape into the cassette guides. Be sure the side you want to play first faces you and the tape's full reel is to the right. 5. Close the compartment door. 6. Set Tape/RADIO to TAPE. 7. Press <-->. 8. Adjust VOL. to the desired listening level. 9. Set BASS BOOST to ON for an enhanced bass effect. Set it to OFF for normal bass sound. 10. If you want to change the tape direction and play the other side, set DIRECTION to its other position. Note: The tape automatically plays the other side when the first side ends, but you can use DIRECTION to play the other side, too. 11. The entire cassette tape repeatedly plays. To stop playback, press STOP. USING FAST-FORWARD AND REWIND To fast-forward or rewind the tape, press <<- or ->>. When the SCP-53 reaches the desired segment of the tape, press STOP. Then press <--> to resume playback. USING THE BELT CLIP For hands-free carrying, slide the belt clip over your belt. To remove the belt clip, lift the tab and slide the clip in the direction of the arrow. To replace the belt clip, place it in the recessed area and slide it in the opposite direction of the arrow until it snaps into place. (br/all-02/27/95)
