System 727 (130-1274) Compatible Audio Sources Faxback Doc. # 9825 Microphone Mixing The system 727's microphone mixing works with any connected audio source. Vocal Fader The System 727's vocal fader does not work well with audio sources with these characteristics. Monaural recordings or broadcasts Recordings or broadcasts with strong echoes Recordings or broadcasts with the vocal part recorded on either the right or left side of the stereo sound track. Use the multiplex function instead for these types of recordings (see "Multiplex"). Recordings with the vocal part already muted using the vocal fader or multiplex. Multiplex The System 727's multiplex works well only with special pre-recorded multi- audio karaoke cassette tapes or CDs. MICROPHONE MIXING Using an external microphone, you can sing along with selections on CDs or cassette tapes, or with a song played over the radio. 1. Connect an external microphone to the MIC jack. 2. Press the source selection button (TAPE, TUNER/AM-FM, VIDEO/AUX, or CD) for the desired audio source. 3. If necessary, start the selected audio source. 4. Adjust VOLUME MIN/MAX to a comfortable listening level. 5. Adjust MIC MIXING MIN/MAX to suit your preferences, then sing or talk into the microphone. The system mixes your voice with the audio source. Note: If the sound you hear through the microphone is loud or distorted, adjust MIC MIXING toward MIN. 6. To record your voice and the audio source together on a cassette tape, record from the audio source. See "Recording." Note: To avoid noisy feedback while recording, keep the microphone as far away as possible from the speakers and adjust MIC MIXING toward MIN. When you finish mixing, set MIC MIXING MIN/MAX to MIN and remove the microphone's plug from the MIC jack. VOCAL FADER/MULTIPLEX Using the vocal fader, you can reduce the volume of existing vocals in many recordings or songs played over the radio, then add your own voice to the rhythm and accompaniment. Note: When you use the vocal fader, you hear the audio source as monaural, even if it was recorded in stereo. Using the multiplex, you can reduce the volume of existing vocals in special multi-audio karaoke CDs and cassette tapes where vocal passages are recorded on the right channel and rhythm and accompaniment are recorded on the left channel. See "Compatible Audio Sources." 1. Connect an external microphone to the MIC jack. 2. Press the source selection button (TAPE, TUNER/AM-FM, VIDEO/AUX, or CD) for the desired audio source. 3.
