SCP-52 (140-1092) Operation Faxback Doc. # 9850 LOADING/UNLOADING A CASSETTE TAPE Follow these steps to load a cassette tape. 1. Take up any slack in the tape by turning the cassette's hub with a pencil. Do not touch the exposed tape. 2. Pull open the cassette compartment door. 3. With its open edge facing out, insert the cassette tape into the cassette guides. Be sure the side you want to play first faces you and the tape's full reel is to the right. 4. Close the compartment door. To unload a cassette tape, press STOP to stop playback. Then open the cassette compartment door and slide out the cassette tape. PLAYING A CASSETTE TAPE Warning: To prevent possible hearing loss, turn VOLUME to its lowest settings before you put on headphones or connect speakers. After you connect headphones or speakers, adjust the volume. 1. Connect headphones or amplified speakers to the HEADPHONE jack. 2. Load a cassette tape into the cassette compartment. See "Loading a Cassette Tape." Note: If necessary to rewind the tape to the beginning, always press <<- or ->> in the direction opposite to the current <<- or ->> setting. 3. Set DIRECTION to left or right, as desired. 4. Press PLAY. The tape plays. Note: You cannot select the direction of playback with the PLAY button. The arrows on the PLAY button only indicate that the cassette player can play a tape in either direction. 5. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable level. 6. Set E-BASS to IN for an enhanced-bass effect. Set it to OUT for normal bass sound. 7. If you want to change the tape-play direction, set DIRECTION to its other position. 8. The entire cassette tape repeatedly plays. To stop playback, press STOP. USING FAST-FORWARD AND REWIND To fast-forward or rewind the tape, press <<- or ->>. The following table shows which button to press, based on the current DIRECTION setting. When the cassette player reaches the desired segment of the tape, press STOP. The tape automatically stops when it reaches the end. To resume playback, set direction as desired and press PLAY. USING THE BELT CLIP For hands-free carrying, slide the belt clip over your belt. To remove the belt clip, press down on the arrow and slide the clip in the direction of the arrow. To replace the belt clip, place it in the recessed area and slide it in the opposite direction of the arrow until it snaps into place. (br/all-02/28/95)
