CTR-83 (140-0758) Installation Faxback Doc. # 9870 USING BATTERY POWER 1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pressing the clips in the direction pointed by the arrow and lifting the cover. 2. Install four C batteries as shown, observing the correct polarity (+ and -). Incorrect polarity can damage your radio/recorder. We suggest you use Radio Shack's alkaline batteries such as Cat. No. 23-551 for extra long life. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. USING AC POWER You can use your radio/recorder with AC power to conserve batteries. Plug the power cord into a standard AC outlet. USING DC POWER You can power the radio/recorder from the cigarette lighter in your vehicle, provided the vehicle has a 12-volt, negative ground system. Use only Radio Shack DC Adapter (Cat. No. 14-844). Using any other adapter could damage the radio/recorder. Insert the large plug into the cigarette-lighter socket. Set the adapter's voltage switch to 6 volts and insert the small plug in the DC 6 V jack on the side of the radio/ recorder. Caution: Always remove the lighter-socket plug first, and then remove the other end from the jack. Allowing the plug to touch metal while the adapter is plugged into the lighter socket could blow a fuse or damage the vehicle or adapter. (LB-01/20/95)
