High-Power In-Dash (120-2151) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 14502
AM/FM Stereo CD Player

The Optimus In-Dash AM/FM Stereo CD Player is an example of superior design
and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the
stereo so you can enjoy it for years.

Keep the stereo dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids
can contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits.

Handle the stereo gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the
circuit boards and case and can cause it to work improperly.

Wipe the stereo with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to
    clean the stereo.

Modifying or tampering with the stereo's internal parts can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate the stereo's warranty and void the FCC
authorization to operate it. If the stereo is not operating as it should,
take it to the local Radio Shack store for assistance.

CD CARE TIPS

Even though a CD is very durable, you should handle it with care. We
recommend the following precautions:

Keep the CD in its protective case or sleeve when you are not playing
    it.

Handle a CD by its edges it avoid fingerprints which can prevent the CD
player's laser beam from accurately reading the CD. The local Radio
Shack store sells a suitable CD cleaner kit.

Do not write on either side of the CD, particularly the non-label side.
(Signals are read from the non-label side).

Keep the CD dry. A water drop can act as a lens and affect the laser
    beam's focus.

If you park the vehicle in the sun, temperatures inside the vehicle can
easily reach levels that could damage the CDs. To prevent heat damage,
avoid saving the CDs in the vehicle.

If a CD skips when you try to play it, it might be scratched. The
local Radio Shack store sells a Scratch 'n Fix kit (Cat. No. 42-127)
that might help remove the scratch and stop the skip. See also
    "Troubleshooting" (Faxback Doc. # 15034).

REPLACING A FUSE

If the stereo does not operate, you might need to replace the red power
wire's fuse. If the clock resets or stored stations are lost when the
ignition is off, you might need to replace the yellow continuous power
wire's fuse.

WARNING: Before you begin, turn off the stereo and the vehicle's
          ignition.

1. Disconnect the red and yellow power wires.

2. Push together and twist the fuse holder's parts until they spring
    apart.

3. If either fuse is blown, replace it. Use only standard 1 1/4 inch
fuses with the proper rating. The red power wire's fuse must be 1.0
amps, and the yellow continuous power wire's fuse must be 10.0 amps.

CAUTION: Make sure you replace a fuse only with another fuse of the same
          rating.

4. Reassemble the fuse holder by inserting the fuse and pushing together
and twisting the two parts until they snap together.

5. Reconnect the red and yellow power wires.

For no apparent reason, even while travelling normally and not encountering
any bumps in the road, the CD Player goes back to the beginning of the
track, it will have to be taken to service. Adjustments may need to be made
to the laser arm.
