Auto Stereo Power (120-1869) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15006 Booster The AUTO STEREO POWER BOOSTER operates easily. Simply press the ON button and the lamp will light. The switch from the lamp turns on the Booster. When the switch is out, the Booster is not on and you'll hear only the un-boosted sound from your radio/tape player. NOTE: If the lamp fails to light when you turn the power on, the fuse may be blown. Check it. For replacement, use only a fuse of the same size and type. (Do not use a higher amperage fuse.) Installation Note: You can connect either the electrical wiring or install your Booster first - whichever is most convenient for you. If you're unsure about performing the installation after reading the following instructions (if you have questions such as, "is my car negative ground?" or "which cord is the power cord?"), we suggest you have the Booster installed by a qualified technician. Improper wiring of the Power Booster could damage the electrical system of your car. ELECTRICAL WIRING Disconnect the power cable from the radio or tape player and plug it into the connector at the back of the Booster. Plug the appropriately marked power cable from your Booster into the connector at the back of the radio or tape player. If the existing fuses for your radio or tape player are 2A or 3A, use a 7A fuse between the Booster and the 12-volt power source. If either the radio or the tape player comes with 4A or 5A fuses, then use a 10A fuse between the Booster and the power source (the fuse to a 12-volt power source must always be higher than the rating of the fuse for the radio or tape player). NOTE: 2A fuses are supplied with the Booster. Change, as required, if the radio or tape player uses a fuse other than a 2A. CAUTION: If the radio or tape player requires a connector that differs from the one on the Booster, we suggest you take the vehicle to a qualified electronics service technician and have him/her rewire as necessary. S/he may find our Universal Car Stereo Connector (Cat No. 270-017) helpful in making these connections. NOTES: To assure proper operation of this Stereo Power Booster, you must use separate leads for each speaker connection. Don't use chassis ground (or other common ground connection) as a common ground for the minus (-) lead of both speakers. Also, keep right and left speaker ground/common leads separated. (Don't interchange there wires.) If you hear strange sounds from the system wiring, try interchanging the ground leads between speakers (the leads going to minus (-) terminals of the speakers). Connect the single black wire that comes from the back of the Booster to the frame of the vehicle or to the negative side of the battery. If you have a ground wire connected from your radio/tape player, you can leave it connected. (LB/all-04/27/95)
